Skilled workers are selected as permanent residents based on their education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other criteria that have been shown to help them become economically established in Canada.

This category covers applicants with either a university education (professionals) or technically qualified people (trades people). Additional points are awarded for ‘Arranged employment’ i.e. a job offer from a qualified Canadian employer.
